“It’s A Wonderful Life,” act-along at Metropolitan Playhouse in East Village on December 18, 2011

It’s A Wonderful Life
~ ActAlong ~

Every year, Metropolitan invites its friends and supporters to a reading of Frank Capra’s sentimental favorite,
“It’s A Wonderful Life.”

With sound and costume and holiday fare, it is our favorite way to ring in the season.

Better yet, you do the reading! Everyone who comes is welcome to draw lots for a part, and away we go. Feel free to watch the play as well.

George! Mary! Burt! Ernie! Mr. Potter! Clarence! YOU!

One Year Lease Theater Company presents the world premiere of award-winning Australian playwright Daniel Keene’s The Killing Room. This Beckett-style 80-minute dark comedy is inspired by the ancient story of Thyestes and was commissioned by One Year Lease.

Impossibly ancient, shrunken, and constantly bickering, twin brothers Cy and Ed, modern counterparts of Thyestes and Atreus, perpetuate their existence through blood transfusions and organ transplants. As young men, their greed was so insatiable and their capacity for brutality so great, they destroyed an entire civilization. They left nothing behind but the people who care for them: a doctor, a nurse, their wives. They still control the universe, or what is left of it, until their long-dead children reappear…
